In a new report, doctors found that people who eat a Mediterranean diet live longer than people who eat other foods. A Mediterranean diet has a lot of vegetables, rice, pasta and olive oil in it. People who live in Mediterranean countries like Italy, Spain, and Greece eat meals that contain those foods.
Until now, people weren't sure that this kind of diet was really better for us. Now the scientists know that these foods are healthy. Other foods in the diet are: fruits, nuts, and fish. The diet doesn't have very much cheese or milk in it. It has a little meat and chicken and not much fat.
Doctors found that people who ate a Mediterranean diet had less heart disease and cancer. Doctors said that eating healthy foods isn't enough. It is important not to eat too much. We should also play sport and do exercise.
